Small ground dwelling Owl with long legs a round head yellow eyes and white eyebrows. Sandy colored on the head brown with white speckling on breast and wings.
The Burrowing Owl nests in a hole on the ground. They are able to dig their own but much prefer using those left by skunks and other small mammals.
Often easy to spot because they are active in daylight and nest on the ground in burrows often in dirt berms along roads in agricultural areas.
Range: In North America mid-western states Southern California and Mexico
