Haida canoes were hollowed and shaped from a single log. Partially completed examples can still be found in the woods along the shores.
Haida Gwaii (until 2010, called The Queen Charlotte Islands) is an archipelago and is the home land of the Haida Nation peoples, who have inhabited the area for over 13,000 years.
The region is undeveloped and abounds in fern and pine forests.
