BGE-125.jpg
This small burrowing owl sits in front of his government supplied home. The plastic pipes were buried in the area to encourage nesting.
The Burrowing Owl nests in a hole on the ground. They are able to dig their own but much prefer using those left by skunks and other small mammals.
These owls are ground dwellers with long legs a round head yellow eyes and white eyebrows. Sandy colored on the head brown with white speckling on breast and wings.
Often easy to spot because they are active in daylight and nest on the ground in burrows often in dirt berms along roads in agricultural areas.
