Ocean sunfish feed on jellyfish and other plankton. They can weigh up to 3000 pounds and are often found beneath drift kelp. As for predators, sea lions are commonly seen tearing their fins off leaving them unable to swim. The Ocean Sunfish is the heaviest known bony fish in the world. A Sunfish produces millions of eggs in a single spawn. Sunfish often host a large number of parasites. This is a fin detail with copepod parasites and unknown invertebrate hitching a ride. Their truncated tail is called a Clavus.
