A Humpback leaps out of the water. They will often do this multiple times in a row.
As with many of the large baleen whales the Humpback was hunted to near extinction before a whaling moratorium was introduced in the mid nineteen sixties.
Humpbacks are rarely seen off the Southern California coast.
Range: Can be found nearly worldwide. In the Pacific from the Bering Sea to Southern Mexico and Hawaii.
