SLS-003.jpg
Found inshore along sand and mud bottoms. Often just outside the surf line along sand beaches. Length to 7 feet. Found in depths to 300 feet.
The Leopard Shark is an extremely shy animal and a complete non threat to humans. They seem to have a reputation at the beach likely because of the more aggressive and unrelated Tiger Shark. Leopards are bottom feeders and often swim along the sand just outside the surf line having to dodge bathers feet all day during the summer. A chance to see these sharks from a kayak or while snorkeling should not be missed.
Range: Oregon to Baja Mexico
Species: Triakis semifasiata
