The USS Midway is one of Americas longest lived active duty carriers. Commissioned in 1945 it was actively used until retirement in 1992.

It had several major refits for modernization over the years and was a mainstay of post World War II navel air power, with its final deployment being during the Gulf War.

It now serves as a museum permanently docked on the waterfront in San Diego Bay.
