A brittlebush in Palm Canyon in Anza Borrego Desert.

Anza Borrego Desert is California’s largest state park, covering 600,000 acres of terrain including desert badlands, palm canyons, twisting slot canyons, wildflower displays and cactus. The badlands are covered with ever changing hills and ruts, and mysterious formations.

Geologists and paleontologists believe this parched desert was once underwater, and home to fish, sea turtles, and sharks. Remnants of its former life can be found, including seashell fossils.
