A strange sight in the middle of nowhere. It is documented that in the late 1800's, a San Diego County Supervisor - James Jasper - placed signs in the desert to indicate headings and distances. At some later time, someone humorously painted this sign with Hollywood and Vine. The original sign is history, but the name has stuck and maintenance of the sign has continued.

Anza Borrego Desert is California’s largest state park where temperatures can be in the triple digits year-round. The park covers 600,000 acres of desert, including badlands, palm canyons, rock formations, slot canyons, wildflower displays and cactus.

Geologists and paleontologists believe this parched desert was once underwater, and home to fish, sea turtles, and sharks. Remnants of its former life can be found, including seashell fossils and wild rock formations.
