Prior to the 1980’s and improved capture methods by Purse Seiners fishing for tuna this species was declining rapidly in the eastern Pacific.
Varies widely in size and coloration throughout its range. In adults one of its distinguishing characteristics is its spots.
Range: Found worldwide in temperate and tropical oceans.
