 Gray Whale Migration

Even though its often cold and the days short, I always enjoy getting offshore this time of year to spot Gray Whales on their southern migration to the lagoons off Baja Mexico. Grays normally hug the coast staying no more than a few miles out. This whale was one of a group of four or five that was cruising south just outside the kelp line off Point Loma. Its spout is backlit by the morning light. Point Loma Lighthouse in background.
