Torrey Pines State Reserve San Diego California

Torrey Pines Reserve is one of my favorite spots in San Diego. Nearly 2000 acres of undeveloped California coast. Spectacular sandstone cliffs overlook the Pacific and wide sand beaches below.

The reserve is home to stands of Torrey Pines, the rarest pine in North America. The twisted and gnarled trees seem to cling to the edge of the coast. Other plant life includes a diverse mixture of coastal sage scrub and chaparral communities. Over eight miles of public trails snake through the reserve. Spectacular views of La Jolla to the south and Del Mar to the north are had from the upper bluffs.
