Found on sand and mud bottoms to depths of 600 feet. Will also feed in shallow water along sand beaches even inside the surf line in a few feet of water. Size can range to five feet or more with weights in excess of seventy pounds. Both eyes are on their left side.

A few examples include cosmetics salad dressings canned foods and frozen foods such as ice cream. Only the upper canopy is cut away much like mowing a lawn.
