 Guadalupe Island

Guadalupe Island is a remote eastern pacific island located roughly 150 miles off the coast of Baja Mexico and about 250 miles southwest of Ensenada. This photo is a panoramic view of the complete northeast end of the island. Guadalupe is known for its world class Sport Fishing and more recently its summer population of Great White Sharks. Long range fishing and diving charters make runs here primarily from San Diego or Ensenada.

A few people do live on the island, at least for parts of each year. Theres a small Mexican Navy garrison on the south end and a few fishermen live on the southwest side in a rough cove called West Anchorage. Its barren vertical rock formations, abundant marine life and ever changing weather and sea conditions make it a unique and even mysterious place to visit.
